Professor Zhao graduated from Dalian University of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in 2009, and was subsequently recommended for direct admission to Tsinghua University, where he received his doctoral degree in 2014. During this time at Tsinghua, he won the First Prize for Excellent Doctoral Dissertation and was named an "Academic Rising Star", and was awarded the university Special Scholarship. He then conducted postdoctoral research, first from 2014 to 2016 in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University; and subsequently from 2016 to 2017 at the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES) at Virginia Tech in the United States. In 2017, he joined Tsinghua’s Department of Electrical Engineering as an assistant professor, was promoted to associate professor in 2018, and became a tenured associate professor in 2023. Currently, he served as a tenured associate professor and a doctoral supervisor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University, and a recipient of the Excellent Young Scientist Fund from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His main research and teaching interests lie in direct current transmission and distribution, as well as high-power power electronics.
